ANT 395 - SP25 Evolutionary Anthropology of Human Health

4 credits Spring
Cross-listed as: ANT The study of health is critical for understanding past and present human lifeways and cultures. Human health is a topic that strongly connects biology and culture. We will investigate topics about past human health including but not limited to paleopathology, skeletal trauma, and the gracilization of the human skeleton around the agricultural revolution. We will also pursue an understanding of the occurrence of health-related evolutionary mismatches such as the prevalence of heart disease and type 2 diabetes in industrialized societies.

Prerequisite: 3rd year standing with major in Anthropology, Biology, or Biochemistry.
