FRN 395-01 - Advanced Special Topic: Moliere: Peformance and Adaptation4 credits (Spring) This seminar has two objectives: 1) to study theatrical performance practices with Moliere’s comedy “Le Misanthrope” and 2) to understand how this play has inspired other philosophical and theatrical works in the 18th-21st centuries. In the first half of the semester, students will work with two visiting actors, Aurelien Recoing and Ann-Sophie Archer, to memorize lines and perform scenes from the play. In the second half, students will study other works that have been inspired by the characters and questions raised by Moliere’s play.
Prerequisite: FRN 312 or FRN 313 ; with grade S, C, or better. Instructor: Harrison
