Grinnell College’s Institute for Global Engagement creates opportunities for students, staff and faculty to develop their knowledge of the world. The Institute works to advance Grinnell’s global learning goals by facilitating collaboration across academic departments, centers, and programs to promote international learning and research. The Institute includes initiatives related to short-term faculty-led courses, semester-long study abroad and domestic study away programs, support for language learning and intercultural communication, co-curricular engagement, and strategic partnerships.
About 60% of Grinnellians study away — either abroad or elsewhere in the U.S. — at least once during their time at Grinnell. Information on a wide range of short-term and semester-long study away opportunities can be found in IGE’s application portal as well as on the College’s website:
