REL 295-01 - Special Topic: Religion is Everywhere4 credits (Spring) Seeking to make the familiar strange and the strange familiar, this course will explore ways that various people, practices, institutions and stories function religiously in the lives of people. Rather than limiting ourselves to commonly recognized traditions, this course will also ask what happens when we use categories developed in the study of religion to examine things like sports, rock and roll and Coca Cola and, in turn, how that study helps us to think differently about traditional religion.
Prerequisite: REL 101 , REL 102 , REL 103 , REL 104 , or second year standing. Instructor: Rietz
