CLS 295-01 - Special Topic: Greek Drama4 credits (Spring) Cross-listed as: THD 295-01 . Study of tragedies and comedies of ancient Athens, with attention to performance and material culture. We will read some of the most influential and challenging dramas, and we will investigate the written, visual, and archaeological evidence that informs our understanding of the original performances and their cultural context. Looking beyond antiquity, the class will also study modern adaptations that reveal the enduring and broad appeal of Greek drama.
Prerequisite: HUM 101 is recommended. Instructor: Dixon
