REL 256 - Religion and Politics in Modern China4 credits (Fall or Spring) The course surveys the religious problems and explores the political influence on religions in China from the 1900s to the present. The major topics include the government’s view of new religious movements, the changing relationship between religious institutions and the state, and the rise of religious tourism.
Prerequisite: REL 101 , REL 102 , REL 103 , REL 104 , REL 105 , REL 106 , with grade of S, C, or better, or second-year standing. Note: Not offered every year. Instructor: Y. Chen
