This course tasks students with rooting urban space in the historical pretexts and contemporary mechanisms used to uphold racial and economic apartheid. Specifically, students will uncover the social, political, and economic policies and practices used to transform urban America while paying careful attention to how these policies and practices are weaponized as a means of both divestment and reclamation of the city. This course is solution driven and tasks students with developing tangible plans to address inequality systematically in the United States.
