SOC 390-01 - Advanced Studies in Sociology4 credits (Fall) Advanced Studies in Gender How do our bodies, relationships, and opportunities reflect broader gendered power structures? This advanced seminar explores contemporary debates in the sociology of gender, from hookup culture to reproductive justice, violence, misogyny, and the gender wealth gap. Through an intersectional lens, students will analyze how gender shapes social life, policy, and lived experiences. Drawing on cutting-edge research and theory, we’ll critically examine the forces that sustain gender inequality-and the movements working to challenge them.
Prerequisite: SOC 111 with grade S, C, or better. Note: Plus-2 option available. Instructor: Janson
