GWS 395-02 - Advanced Special Topic: American Women’s History

Cross-listed as: HIS 395-01. This seminar takes explores the history of American women and the field of women’s history. We begin the semester by reading recent historical scholarship to consider shifting trends and practices as well as the classic texts upon which they build. This includes discussion of the role of archives, theory, and identity in framing the historian’s work. Students will design and execute a historical research project and present this research in oral and written formats.

Prerequisite: at least one 200-level history or GWS course with grade S, C, or better.
