PHI 295-02 - Special Topic: History of Chinese Philosophy4 credits (Spring) Cross-listed as: CHI 295-01 and EAS 295-01 . This course will largely focus on classical Chinese philosophy, developed during the Warring States Period. We will read selections from the Analects of Kongzi (Confucius), The Mozi, The Mengzi (Mencius), The Daodejing (Laozi), The Zhuangzi, The Xunxi, and Han Feizi. We will also discuss Buddhist thought in China, focusing on the Platform Sutra of Huìnêng, and end with a brief discussion of neo-Confucianism.
Prerequisite: PHI 111 or PHI 121 with grade S, C, or better. Instructor: Nyden
