PHE 195-01 - Introductory Special Topic: Sport Journalism, Trends and Practical Applications2 credits (Fall) In Sport Journalism PHE-195, students engage in practical areas of the field of sports writing, and they read and discuss ethics in the media. Students learn four forms of sports writing: post-contest recaps, pieces with a public relations slant, game/event stories and feature stories. There is emphasis on writing production as students create a piece each week, and for some of the work they will operate under a strict deadline. Students will write feature stories about Grinnell College athletes which may be utilized in Athletic Department communications.
Prerequisite: None. Note: Dates: October 28 to December 11. Half-semester deadlines apply. Instructor: Hamilton
