GWS 295-01 - Special Topic: Queer and Trans Literatures4 credits (Fall_ Cross-listed as: ENG 295-01 . What happens when we read literature in relation to gender and sexuality? What makes a text queer or trans, and how do we know if we’re performing a queer or trans reading? To answer these and other questions, this course examines queer theory, literary criticism, and a selection of 20th and 21st-century queer and trans literature. Our readings will include both canonical and marginal queer and trans texts alongside founding documents of queer theory.
Prerequisite: GWS 111 , ENG 120 , or ENG 121 with grade S, C, or better. Note: Plus-2 option available. Instructor: Allen
