PHE 295-01 - Special Topic: Women’s Distance Running Around the World; History and Culture

4 credits (Fall)
This course will address the history, participation, and current culture of women’s distance running in the United States and other countries. Specific topics will include the history and evolution of women’s sports and running, how the research on (or lack thereof) training methods in women’s running have impacted the prevalence and culture around eating disorders, menstrual cycle health, physical health, athletic performance; and societal pressures that women/women-identifying people face in male-dominated spaces like sports/athletics. 

Prerequisite: 2nd Year Standing.
