FMS 195-01 - Introductory Special Topic: Horror Film and Otherness

4 credits (Fall)
Cross-listed as: ARH 195-03 .  In this course, students will examine key themes in the horror film genre, with an emphasis on how these themes situate otherness. Analyzing cultural representations and cinematic style, students will learn to identify how horror films have historically allowed filmmakers and audiences to engage in debates about disability, race, gender, sexuality, class, and indigeneity. Students will develop skills for individual research in film studies, as well as public-facing scholarship through a series of film screenings.
