ANT 295-03 - Special Topic: Primate Behavior, Ecology and Evolution4 credits (Fall) This course is an introduction to the field of primatology, an area of specialization within biological anthropology. We will examine the evolution, behavior, and ecology of our closest living relatives: monkeys, apes, and strepsirrhines. More specifically we will investigate primate taxonomy, anatomy, locomotion, diet, reproduction, growth and development, and conservation. We will address some compelling issues, including aggressive and cooperative behavior, communication, non-human tool use, and what defines the primate order (including humans!).
